Our Approach
The Challenge
Trust in information and media continues to decline rapidly, threatening our social cohesion, democratic institutions, and economic resilience. The proliferation of generative AI has the potential to exacerbate the erosion of trust in our media, education, science, business, and political process.
Our Approach
Mission: To empower society by making quality information available to all.
Vision: A healthier, more trustworthy information ecosystem grounded in shared standards, informed public agency, and cross-sector collaboration.
Core Function: TIM's core function is to connect, convene, and coordinate the people and organizations working to rebuild trust in information. We strengthen the connective tissue of an emerging information quality ecosystem by gathering the thinkers, practitioners, funders, technologists, and educators shaping the future of information integrity and helping align their work toward a shared purpose.
The conversations and convenings we host create the foundation on which new standards, tools, and experiments take shape. This is where rebuilding the information ecosystem begins: through shared understanding, visible collaboration, and sustained momentum toward collective action.
Our cooperative-building work surfaces critical gaps in information infrastructure. We respond in three ways:
Direct Investigation: Develop and test solutions ourselves
Strategic Partnership: Broker partnerships and provide coordination
Network Activation: Connect existing players and facilitate collaboration
Trust is rebuilt through relationships. When people and institutions can see each other's work, share learning, and shape collective agendas, new standards, tools, and experiments become possible.
